Advisory Services Overview

inspire | innovate | invest

What types of “expert advice” do we offer?

We coach and/or consult with you to achieve your goals. We’ve been doing this for awhile. Some of our strengths:

  • Solving truly gnarly (sometimes called “wicked”) problems. We love challenges and see so-called problems as clues about where to focus. We have an advantage that becomes your advantage — fresh eyes and focus on the prize.
  • Figuring out what you really, really want and how you will know when you’re there? Or, put another way, how will you measure your success?
  • Project Development — the details and time it takes can be daunting. We have found the keys to what matters and what doesn’t to capital provider. These insights can literally save you weeks and months of work.
  • Startups — usually its inspiration meets innovation … we are trained in Lean Startups with 2+ decades of success.
  • Financial models and business plans (more at In3Capital Services)
  • Intense dedication and focus on achieving meaningful results.

We see your client companies that are driven to do good as inseparable from their social/environmental (ESG/SDG) objectives and financial responsibility. Together, we are solving some of Planet Earth’s and society’s most challenging problems such as waste plastic, CO2 emissions, habitat, affordable housing, healthcare, healthy food and water.

We “curate” an ever-growing network of boutique venture capital, private equity and quite diverse impact investors that get interested only when properly approached with a reasonable proposal that lines up with their investment thesis. They are as diverse as you can image.

We help build and arrange for JV partners with companies and projects that provide a positive environmental and/or social impact, deliver eco-restoring products, services and solutions, alongside quite substantial profits. This “blended value” is driving an increasing number of “woke” investors, including our in-house partners.

Advisory Services At-a-glance

We also offer guidance to help project developers align with our capital provider’s requirements, review and develop stronger business plans, IFRS-compliant financial models, more targeted presentations, risk mitigation and due diligence preparation.

We listen carefully to ensure optimal solutions, ownership structures, and skillfully-executed development strategies. We can also help with more “exotic” challenges as we specialize in hard-to-solve (seeming paradoxical) fundraising situations, accessing capital where banks would typically not dare to invest (so-called “alternative” investments), with attractive loans, dedicated debt facilities, private family office equity investments, high net worth individuals (HWNI’s), sometimes philanthropic money (grants), with long-term results.

Accelerate and Streamline Fundraising with In3 Capital

Most of In3’s work since 2018 has focused on placing in-house capital into mid-market international infrastructure projects, though we can still help with venture raises (what’s the difference?) in areas aligned with our purpose.

For ventures or projects that do not qualify for our Capital Guarantee Program ($25 million or more in project capital, combining equity and debt, until reaching commercial operation date), we offer the following in service of your goals:

  1. Raise Venture Capital for early stage companies under a Management Services Agreement (MSA) with us, where we collaborate and partner to either offer our advisory services or you effectively hire us to help develop an investible package and then raise the required capital. We have several methods of arranging this MSA, usually with a well-defined Scope of Work with payments based on completion of milestones and deliverables.
  2. Form a Joint Venture (JV) partnership to pursue strategic goals of mutual interest. We currently have similar arrangements in the waste-to-value, LED lighting, utility-scale solar, and aspects of the food & ag value chain, where new JVs can help flesh out geographic coverage, diverse business models (distinct positioning to avoid competing with other activities), or in underrepresented sectors (many examples in waste-to-value using pyrolytic gasification of plastics and rubber using best-in-class pathways).
  3. Other services as described at In3 Finance. Or Contact Us to ask a question.

Put In3’s Experience to Your Advantage

In3 first began serving clients in 1996 as a “venture catalyst” because it was necessary at that time to introduce and commercialize new solutions to tackle sustainability problems. Back then, there was not an established marketplace for what is now called “clean technology.” The term “renewables” was not used — it was not yet a thing.

In those early days, we coined the phrase “sustainable technology,” but since roughly 2004 or so, the cleantech/greentech arena has gradually been coming-of-age with certain segments now reaching scale (think solar and wind power), enabling the emergence of many other strong opportunities that deliver positive social and/or environmental impacts alongside profits. By now, both cleantech and the Impact Investing ecosystem (often adding the all-important social dimension) have blossomed into the new darling for diverse investors and lenders worldwide.

Via literally dozens of clients, many of these early designs have resulted in thriving and innovative business models and equipment for generating renewable energy, waste-to-value, for food & agriculture, and for producing renewable materials like recovered carbon black (rCB), bioplastics, scaled biologics (inputs to sustainable and regenerative agriculture such as shelf-stable liquid organic fertilizers, biopesticides, etc.), and many others. Dozens of these solutions have hit their stride and are effective competitors to conventional methods (oil & gas, chemical agriculture, etc.). This is how we define “renewables” — energy, food, water, waste recovery, materials, health & sanitation, affordable housing, clean transportation, hybrids of these.

Is your innovation next to reach scale? What does it take? We welcome that conversation. More about venture or small project (under $25M) capital formation services.
